The day Penguin stopped hating the postman... You get to live posty.. For now...

Penguin's T-Shirt

AFTER ALMOST 3 MONTHS OF WAITING!!! You heard me (Read it) right people, almost 3 months!!!! The t-shirt I ordered arrived!

Adelitas way is Penguin's favourite band. (Listen to them....)

28th February myself and my Simon decided to treat ourselves. I'd get an Adelitas way top (My favourite band) and he'd get a Kane one (his favourite band) (I'd post a searched youtube list of them too, but when you put 'Kane' you get the wrestler.. So here is a link to my favourite song by them...)

It cost a LOT as it was coming from America and what not, which I was happy to pay. I love the band and I  love the t-shirts. I decided on a Alive t-shirt as it was myself and Simon's special song. All in all it cost me about $50. I was MEGA excited and the website said it could take a month to deliver...

So I waited a month. (Simon got his t-shirt in a week... BOO!) And when there was no sign of it, I sent a message asking what was going on. They explained that they didn't think it was a real order.. So the would send it then. I waited another month and still no shirt. So I asked for my money back, I was starting to worry. I was then told that my t-shirt had been sent a week ago. Apparently it had been put to one side and forgotten about it and this poor guy emailing me back and found it. He had sent it himself and put a free shirt in as a sorry!

And today, 17th May 2013, I got them! 100% worth the wait! I love them!! And the thing that really made my day was a hand written note from the man emailing me saying sorry! Would use them again to buy more tops without a second thought!!

(And I put it on twitter and the retweeted it! This has happened quite a few times but I still get excited each time...)

Vacuum packing Bear's wardrobe

As Bear has a regular wardrobe and not the TARDIS, she needed to do something about the lack of space...

The plan was for Bear to try on everything and see what fitted her comfortably and what was best for her holiday. She had a LOT to try on.. She needs the TARDIS for a reason.... Now this was a massive pain in the bum for Bear to do as her room is stupidly hot... (And we realised while she was doing it that I have probably seen her strip more times then her Matthew has...) But it didn't take as long as we thought it would! (Damn she looks fineeeeeeee in some of those clothes.. I'm a lucky girl.. *wink wink*)

Bear did extremely well at making space! Penguin made her keep a dress out... Or two... Or she would of had more space!

But we had a whole huge vacuum bag filled and sealed. It weighed a ton. Makes you think of how much a wardrobe has to hole - the sheer weight of it all.

Adam's Birthday

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ADAM!
Penguin's big brother (one of them anyway) is now 22! So a nice visit was in order. She took the cake she made him with Bear. Mummy penguin (who by animal is a Lion, which explains my sometimes Lion-ness) made fudge!

Now by now you probably think that penguin is slightly weird and childish. I would now like to say that not only am I proud of this, but that I can't help it. It runs in my family....

Space Bug Cakes!

Penguin's brother Adam was turning 22 on 16th May and she decided she wanted to do something special for him. As Bear has been teaching her all these new skills, she decided to bake him a cake. A Red Dwarf cake. As it has been a family favourite since they were both little. Bear found a few ideas but Red Dwarf was decided.

Penguin had never done a cake for someone in her family before and Bear was leaving her to do most of it. Penguin likes a challenge!

Bear decided that she wanted to do a Red Dwarf cake for her best friend Nic.

So the cakes were made of course while watching 2 pints of lager and a packet of crisps!

Apples & Algae...YUM!

Jason Vale has a genius lost 7lb in 7 days. Its not quite a diet. More of a detox diet starter boost. It sets you off to change the way you look at food, portion sizes and start new with a healthier lifestyle. I have done it before many years ago and it worked fairly well so i thought it would be a great starting point.

It involves only having juices throughout the day and nothing solid for a whole entire week. Its filled with apples, cucumber, avocado, super greens, pineapple and wheat grass and spirulina.
A hell of a lot of fruit etc! Here's Days 1-3...

The big change is hard for the first few days and involves a lot of juicer cleaning! But it does fill you up quite nicely; sometimes i couldn't finish a juice and i even missed two in the week as i really wasn't hungry!

It was fun as we could always get others to taste it and then tell them what it is made out of. Especially when it has spirulina in it, as it's a form of algae that plecos probably eat! Yummy! They were all pretty nice and others even nicer! It works as well as the effort you put into it.

Cake, Cake and more Blue Cake

May the 4th be with you!

For years and years our nephew has had his cakes made by his Nanny Paula. But not this year!  They have let us loose and said bake... bake away to your hearts consent!

We decided to make two to make it easier for us and make more sense as he has a family party on his birthday and his friends party a week later.

His first cake for the family was a one tier, blue sonic cake. Fairly simple, not too big or too small and took up an afternoon. Lots of fondant colouring, gum trag and precision slicing. It was great fun and everyone loved it. He specifically wanted blue buttercream for the filling. What the boy wants the boy generally gets.

We planned out his two tiered friends party cake and made a paper version a couple of weeks before to help us plan it out easier and make sure we had all the colours and got all the little details ready.

He had a complete sonic scene; a bridge with jumping robot fish, a star post, sunflowers, chequered walls and grassy bits. It obviously took about twice the time as his smaller cake but it was worth it as he absolutely adored it and all his friends were very impressed with it.

It was a fair bit of work - but enjoyable.
Even our Harley helped! I kept making weird clouds and palm trees so she drew me some to help...

Cannot wait until next year. Bigger and better! If its even possible!
